Reaching a clear view of the landscape is not enough.
To convert data into information
We need to cross-match multiple sources.
For decision making, fact-based cross-checked information brings meaning.
From data to decision making
Dealing with sources we shall remember:
the best investigators and commentators
cannot always properly analyse a situation:
Their fundamental believes might be myths-based
or their fact-based information fabric might have huge holes.
To deal with information sources, we shall not deam sources as good or bad.
All sources are good, as long as we are capable of analysing
the source and what it might reasonably know or believe
the possible facts, the factual environment
the posssible degree of reliability of the announced facts.
the plausible issues.
Remember:
we do not focus on the opinion of the source
we focus on the possible facts we learn about.
we collect and verify facts and sources
until we get legible aggregated data
and produce a prospective view enabling decision making.
